Real Books, Fake News

Yesterday, I picked up a second-hand copy of John Le Carre’s novel A Most Wanted Man, while I also received – as a belated birthday present – a pristine hardback copy of The Tarot, a non-fiction study of these mysterious, enchanting cards written by Richard Cavendish in 1976. They’re not to everyone’s taste, of course, but they’re beautifully written in their separate ways and for this quality alone, it is an incredible pleasure to be able to immerse myself in their pages at a time when so much written material on the internet is so poorly spelled, badly written and embarrassingly awful.
